Deeper Understanding of Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback, also called EEG (electroencephalogram) biofeedback, is a method that trains the brain to function more efficiently. It involves monitoring brainwave activity and using that information to help individuals improve focus, emotional regulation, and overall cognitive performance.
This approach has been extensively researched and applied in fields such as anxiety and stress management, ADHD treatment, trauma recovery, and sleep improvement. Unlike medication, neurofeedback does not introduce external substances into the body, making it a safe and side-effect-free alternative for long-term mental health enhancement.
1- Brainwave Monitoring – Small sensors are placed on the scalp to measure brainwave activity (EEG). These sensors only read brain signals; they do not emit any electrical stimulation.
2- Real-Time Feedback – The recorded brain activity is displayed on a computer and linked to a visual or auditory stimulus, such as a video, game, or sound.
3- Brain Training Process – When the brain operates in an optimal pattern, the feedback rewards it (e.g., the video continues playing). When it deviates from the desired state, the feedback signals an adjustment (e.g., the video pauses).
4- Self-Regulation & Improvement – Over multiple sessions, the brain learns to recognize and sustain healthy activity.
